Marcela is a passionate learner, mom, spouse, and teacher. She loves to spend time with her family, bake with her daughter, and travel. She is a Montessori-trained guide and has worked with 0-6 year-old children for over 10 years. She received her Montessori certification from the American Montessori Association and holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in civilization and culture from the University in Salamanca, Spain.
Marcela strongly believes that each child is not a satellite but a unique and wonderful world. She loves observing what young children can do by themselves if we just stop, step back and watch them do it.
"We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being."
— Maria Montessori

As the owner of Acton Academy Kingwood, I am driven by a lifelong passion for education, sparked long before my husband and I welcomed our children. Our family’s early years were spent traveling the world, immersing our children in diverse cultures and experiences that shaped our homeschooling journey. When we settled down, friends introduced us to Acton Academy, and we were immediately captivated—its philosophy of fostering curiosity and a love for learning perfectly aligned with our own.
With no Acton campuses nearby, my husband and I seized the opportunity to create a space where our values could thrive, founding Acton Academy Kingwood. As a high school valedictorian and holder of a master’s degree in Social Work, I once equated learning with achieving top grades. It wasn’t until after college that I discovered the joy of learning for its own sake, free from the pressure of competition. That realization reshaped my perspective and fuels my mission today.
At Acton Academy Kingwood, I’m committed to creating an environment where children fall in love with learning. I want them to stay curious, ask questions, and embrace education as a lifelong adventure. Here, we’re building a community where every child is empowered to discover their unique path and are encouraged to never stop exploring.
I learned so much from being an Acton parent and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. There is no question that my life would not be what it is today had I not cultivated an Acton mindset. I grew a great deal by learning to parent our daughter through her “failures” at Acton (some of these “failures” lasted years and required lots of humble learning). -A happy Acton parent
